A second incident happens when Derek insults her again and she falls into Marti's box in front of Sam. Soon, Derek connects the two incidents to Sam and accuses Casey of secretly crushing on him.

Then, Lizzie and Edwin get whatever they want.

Derek tries to break Casey and Sam up but fails to do so.

Casey confronts Truman in school and begs him to stop annoying her.

The rest of the family give Derek the silent treatment for hurting Casey and ruining her dream. Derek finally resorts to being Casey's partner. Also, Lizzie dares junk food addicts George and Edwin to eat only healthy food for a week and to exercise regularly, otherwise they'll get their hair dyed purple.

Teddy comes back and refuses to leave. He gets on everyone's nerves but no one knows how to get rid of him. He begins to do everything that Derek tells him to do and Derek starts to like it but it makes Lizzie and Edwin suspicious of his intentions. Truman decides to make his and Casey's first date a really bad date because Casey wanted it to be memorable. He feels bad afterward so he lets Casey plan the perfect date, so Casey decides to pay him back by giving him a horrible date.Absent: John Ralston as George Venturi

When midterms and report cards are around the corner, Casey is worried about her future, and Derek is slacking off. When Nora and Lizzie realize that Casey is stressed out, they try to relax her. Neither of the family's attempts to destress Casey, or to improve Derek's grades are working, so Casey and Derek come up with a plan to get good grades.

Meanwhile, Edwin is concerned that he won't be able to live up to Derek's reputation at J.S. Thompson High when he goes there in the fall. The family celebrates Casey and Derek's high school graduation and the two make a very awkward announcement: that they are going to the same university.

Casey and Derek are back and continue their sibling rivalry during a family vacation to visit their grandmother, Felicia at her beautiful lakefront lodge. Things heat up with Casey when she meets Jesse, a young dancer who happens to be a waiter at the lodge. Meanwhile, as Derek is "chilling" on his vacation, he falls for Roxy, the rich girl who lives across the lake. But when Roxy’s father, a greedy land developer, threatens to destroy the natural beauty around them, the McDonald-Venturi kids bond together to save the lake and the lodge, with a little legal help from George and Nora who are having a baby too.
